2006 SMI Students and Staff
What is SMI?
SMI is an intensive mathematics programs designed for highly motivated students who wish to accelerate their mathematics education. Students will attend daily classes taught by experienced mathematics teachers in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry or Precalculus. The classroom setting is highly interactive and easily adapted to each individual student's ability and pace. Students will live in a residence hall at the University of North Texas and are supervised by experienced residence life personnel. During their free time in the evenings and on weekends, participants will have the opportunity to interact with other academically driven peers in fun, educational recreational activities and field trips.
How do I apply?
The dates for the 2007 Summer Math
Institute are July 8 - 28, 2007. Please print out the SMI 2007
Application and follow the directions on the application. You will
also need to get recommendations from you teachers. You can print out this Recommendation Form or ask your teachers to visit this site to get the form.
Who should apply? Rising 7-11th graders interested in an intensive math program.
What is the cost?
$2200.00 which covers the room, board classroom supplies, and activities.

Will I have fun?
Yes! We feel that it is important that the students have a good balance of learning and fun. You will make lasting friendships with other SMI students and with the SMI staff. Check out some of the pictures from last years class.
