Eligibility
TAMS applicants must be
Texas residents enrolled in the tenth grade or equivalent. Geometry, Algebra I
& II must be completed by the end of the sophomore year. A sophomore SAT is
required, and scores must be competitive with those of college-bound seniors who
plan to major in math or science.
Figure 1 below shows statewide math scores of college-bound seniors on the 2007 SAT Reasoning Test. Figure 2 shows the math score distribution of the 2007 TAMS entering class.

The SAT is only one of several factors which determine admission. Applicants are however cautioned that only competitive scores ensure eligibility; that not all applicants who earn competitive scores will be admitted; and finally no specific score guarantees entry.
