2008 Online Application Instructions

Before you begin the online application at the bottom of the page, please follow all of the steps below to ensure you have submitted a complete application

Timeline.  Apply by january 4 (Early Decision) or February 29, 2008. Last year, 54% of new seats were offered to Early Decision candidates.

Interview Day assignments are based on time of receipt of applications. Applications peak at
deadlines, at which time processing is slowed proportionally. Volume rather than preference,
therefore, may dictate which Interview Day is assigned. Applying early reduces the likelihood
that Interview Day preferences will be overridden.

 Eligibility.  Applicants must be sophomore Texas residents who will have completed geometry and Algebra II by May 2008.  Current SAT scores are required.

 SAT.  Current SAT scores should be competitive with those of college-bound seniors planning to major in math or science.  The highest scores from a single administration will count if submitting multiple SATs.  Have scores sent to TAMS via code 0164, not the University of North Texas code.

 Any SAT taken after January 26, 2008 will not meet the February 29 application deadline.

 Application.  Collect the following before beginning:

°   Your 6-digit school CEEB code from your counselor (4__-___).

°   Your Education Service Center (ESC) region number:  http://www.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/texasmap/regionmap.html]

°   Names and district numbers of your State (not U.S.) Senator and Representative.  Call your county voter registration office, or find your incumbent at:    http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/fyi/fyi.htm

Checklist of Requirements
□ Competitive SAT scores submitted via code 0164
□ Evaluations from math, science, and English teachers on provided forms
□ Evaluation from counselor or principal on provided form
□ Official transcripts for grades 7 – 10
□ Geometry, Algebra I and II completed before entry
□ Signed statement from parent / guardian
□ Signed Security Affirmation Clearance form
□ Signed Signature Page (SecurityAffirmation and Signature page)
□ Photocopied documents retained for your records
□ Document originals postmarked by February 29, 2008 and sent to:
