I have been working at TAMS for a little over a semester now. I started working when I was a seventh grader and gradually worked my way up from CiCi’s to places like Hewlett Packard. All in all I have had nearly 15 jobs in the last 7 years and I can definitely say that I have learned more and enjoyed more working here than any other place I have been employed at.

Although this job is a lot of work sometimes, the reward is great in the end. I think what I like about this job the most is the relational side of the work. I don’t run a cash register or work in an office doing paperwork for 20hrs a week.

Here my work includes building relationships with high school students and helping them along the way in their college endeavors. I believe that all the aspects of this job really do correlate with the working world and are essential for a successful post-college career. Here I have to be able to solve problems, help resolve conflicts, deal with disciplinary issues and plan and promote programs among other things.

One of the main differences between working here as compared to other dorms, is here it is a lot easier to get to know the residents and be apart of their lives.
