Thursday Think Tank
Fall 2009 Schedule

Thursday evening is a time to think - and we've got a great line-up of lectures, discussions, and debates to help you do just that. This schedule is being updated daily, so please check back often!

All of these are held in Mac Cafe of McConnell Hall and are free and open to the public.

DATE TIME TOPIC
9/3/09 8pm

Religion and the Environment Panel Discussion
Featuring four faculty members from the UNT Philosophy and Religion Studies Department.

10/29/09 7pm World Religion Panel
Featuring representatives from five different religions: Bahai, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and Hinduism.
Sponsored by the FACES
11/5/09 8pm The Changing Face of Gender Roles
The UNT Student Government Association has recently been struggling with issues relating to this question as it debated whether or not to allow the inclusion of non-traditional gender identities into the UNT Homecoming Court. Come hear from reps from SGA along with notable professors who will help us think through this issue.
11/12/09 8pm

Genetically Engineered Food
Is it worth it to get a spotless apple that is immune from the effects of insects or is there something dangerous about our tinkering with nature and our food source in this way? Come hear representatives from the industry and government discuss this topic.

11/19/09 8pm

Health Care Debate
As Congress is debating this relevant issue, many of our students are preparing for careers in the medical field. The results of the current debate will effect their profession for years to come. Come out as we hear from both sides.

Email Kevin at kevin.roden@unt.edu if you have any questions.
