Kent Boring
Hall Director
and Student Development Specialist
Kent is just beginning his journey with the TAMS program as the newest Hall Director at McConnell. He hails from the Houston, TX area, and attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (’04). He originally came to Denton to pursue a Master of Education degree in Counseling and graduated from that program in the spring of 2007. Kent was a Graduate Assistant at UNT during his Master’s education where he was involved with the Student Development and Dean of Students offices. He us currently considering his future academic endeavors, some of which include getting a teaching certificate or possibly another Master’s degree in Higher Education. He has also considered moving and working in a foreign country at some point.
Kent is a well-rounded individual and enjoys a far reaching variety of activities and hobbies during his free time. Kent is an avid hunter and enjoys shooting, killing and eating everything from birds, squirrel, deer and hog. Kent also loves sports and has been rumored to challenge (and beat) you at just about anything sports related, but is content to just watch a game on TV or talk about the latest sports news. He also has a love and passion for music and is always interested in going to local concerts, talking about bands (new and old) and will probably sit down and play a tune or two on the guitar with you. If Kent isn’t busy with those things you’ll probably find him tapping away on his computer on the latest MMORPG.
Most importantly, he loves spending time with his wife, and best friend, of 3 years, Stephanie and their dog Maggie. They love to travel and spend time learning about different cultures and have made many different trips all over the world. Other than that, you’ll most likely find them snuggled up on their couch watching American Idol, chatting at a local coffee chop or catching the latest movie at Movie Tavern and complaining about why it didn’t live up all to the hype.
