Russ Stükel,
M.Ed.
Director of Student Life
TAMS started small and has grown to what
it is today. There was a time when TAMS students and University
students both inhabited McConnell Hall – as a hall
director Russ came to TAMS during this interesting time
and has moved through a variety of positions to be the Director
of Student Life.
Russ has a BA in psychology, an MA in Counseling
Student Services and is currently working on his dissertation
in the field of Training and Development. Never afraid to give an opinion Russ enjoys
discussing just about any topic: ranging from politics,
theories on leadership, international affairs, current sports
and what is the hottest movie. Those familiar with Russ
discussions understand what he means when he states, “he
may be wrong from time to time but he is never in doubt”.
Russ recently moved to Denton into a house affectionately known as the "money pit" with his lovely wife Laura
who once worked for TAMS many moons ago but is now a talented
designer suffering the commute to and from Dallas.
Many folks catch Russ running on a treadmill
in the UNT Rec Center. He annually runs the White Rock Marathon
in Dallas and has qualified for Boston 4 times but has yet
to make the trip. He regularly plays handball, (racquetball
is for weenies) and would like to play more golf if time
permitted. Russ will read just about any book. Current reads
include: Primal Leadership, the Working Poor and the latest Harry Potter once it comes out in paperback!
Russ also loves to attend movies but is too frugal to pay
the exorbitant full price fees – luckily for him there
is a dollar theater in Lewisville that only charges 50¢
on Tuesdays so don’t be surprised to see Russ in Lewisville
on Tuesdays.
